Shawn graduated in December 2003 from the University of Illinois at Chicago Jane Addams School of Social Work with her Master’s Degree in Social Work. She has over 15 years of experience working in primary care settings and home-based therapy settings in the U.S., the United Kingdom, and Canada.
Shawn has counseled many families and individuals through stressful transitions. Her approach to treatment integrates aspects of many different therapeutic approaches, based on the unique needs of her clients and their situation. She has received specialized training in the following areas, including grief, life transitions, care giver stress, post-traumatic stress, anxiety, depression, family systems, concurrent disorders, and chronic pain.
Shawn is trained in several therapeutic modalities including: Cognitive Processing Therapy, Short Solution Based Counseling, Emotionally Focused Individual and Couple’s Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Conjoint Therapy, Prolonged Exposure, Narrative Therapy, Play Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, and Suicide Prevention.
