Dr. Larry English is a Tampa Bay based community advocate, specializing in community mental health advocacy and policy and focusing on the needs of marginalized populations. Dr. English is an international presenter on the traumatizing effects of institutional racism, Xenophobia and Homophobia.
In practice for 30 plus years, Dr. English utilizes theories of Positive Psychology, Reality Therapy, Multiculturalism, Mindfulness and Critical Race Theory and has produced his own interventions entitled Emotional Freedom Train(ings).
Dr. English is a recognized voice of the needs and strengths of GLBTIQ2-S populations. He has presented at international events and has participated in several boards, councils and groups. His work has led him to serving on evaluation teams for Human Rights in 38 countries, and to date he has visited 98 countries of the world.
Currently, Dr. English is the Executive Director of the Federation of Families CMH, Healthy Minds Hillsborough, Inc. He holds a Masters in Community Mental Health from Clemson University and a Doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision from Argosy University.
