Kara graduated from the University of South Florida in 2006 with her Master’s degree in Social Work. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (License # SW 10712).
She has 10 years’ experience in which she’s worked with kids, teens and adults in a variety of settings providing individual, family and group therapy. She also achieved a certificate in Play Therapy in 2007 from the University of South Florida.
Kara has over 5 years’ experience as a hospice social worker. She has provided supportive services to meet the needs of terminally ill individuals and their families to improve the quality of life for the hospice patients, their families, and help the patients die with dignity. Kara’s hospice experience has primarily been working with the elderly population in Assisted Living Facilities (ALF’s) and their families. Kara is very knowledgeable in the various challenges the elderly face that effect their emotional health, physical health, and adjustment to a multitude of life changes.
Kara is excited to bring her expertise and experience to a setting with Brandon Mental Health that allows her to bridge the gap of providing psychotherapy/counseling to ALF residents in their home environment. Kara can also meet the needs of the resident’s families by providing in office counseling to them, if desired.
Kara’s main focus is providing psychotherapy counseling to residents in the ALF’s in the Brandon, FL area.
